Integrating escape rooms strategies for flood risk preparedness
Project Number 2025-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000354814
Priority
Environment and Climate Change Response
The project addresses climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness by integrating flood prevention education into school curricula. The FLOODSCAPE Escape Room offers students an immersive, hands-on learning experience, simulating real flood scenarios to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
School Education
Supporting Teachers and Educational Professionals
By providing innovative pedagogical strategies, the project empowers teachers, school principals, and other educational professionals to deliver effective climate resilience education. Teacher training seminars and the Climate Change and Flood Handbook offer interdisciplinary tools, combining biology, geography, mathematics, and technology. The project also encourages co-teaching methodologies, fostering collaboration between educators from different subjects to create a holistic learning experience. These resources equip teachers to confidently implement climate education and actively engage their students.
School Education
Developing Key Competences
The project promotes essential skills in sustainability, problem-solving, and teamwork. Through interactive learning and the escape room methodology, students gain practical knowledge on flood preparedness and climate change adaptation, following the GreenComp framework for sustainability competences. By working collaboratively to solve challenges and implement disaster response strategies, students strengthen their teamwork and critical thinking. Additionally, the project fosters active citizenship, encouraging students to participate in community initiatives and school-based climate action projects.
